Do you really know how blind I am?

No, that is not some sort of philosophical question...I really am quite blind. I went to the optometrist today so I can get set up with enough lenses to last me while in Germany. It's really funny when the eye doctor continually mentions "...with powers this high, it doesn't really matter...Sometimes I forget where we keep the strong lenses...Oh good, this eye does seem to be correctable, I think..." Being as blind as I am, I have become an expert in the whole song and dance that they like to call eye exam. You'd think with the technology that we have in today's society that there would be a more precise way of determining one's prescription. The procedure, if you are unfamiliar with it because you were blessed with perfect vision, merely entails repeated questioning..."which one is better? A or B? B or C?...Is this one better, worse, or about the same?" I mean seriously...this seems like an idiotic way to practise medicine. (I just decided that it's fun to spell like the British, hence the 'practise.') I hate to bash optometrists, but it is funny. Wait...where would I be without them? I definitely wouldn't be typing and looking at this screen...I would probably not have been able to learn how to read at a young age...that would leave me with...braile? Thank God for Optometry!

Ok, so here are some old school (I mean old school) jams that I'm really feelin right now:
Phil Collins - Against All Odds
Bonnie Raitt - Something to Talk About
*Note* You do have to be in a certain mood to appreciate these songs, which closely stradle the line between lame and classic.

Del Mar Fair Today

Teresa and I are going to the SD County Fair tonight. Maroon5 Will be there, so it should be fun. Teresa already warned me that she's going to drag me to look at all of the livestock. Not my cup of tea, but it's not like I get to see much of that in the concrete jungle of SoCal.

Last night Cristina mentioned that she might be visiting me in Munich next year. I just got so excited. I just realized how much fun I am going to have when people visit me and we get to make cool memories together. I know that my parents are coming. So are my grandparents, Emily, Teresa, Jackie, and hopefully anyone else that I can convince to do so. Before last night, I had it in my mind that I was going to have to beg my new friends over there to do cool things with me. (But you know when you have company from out of town and you end up taking them to Sea World for the first time in 10 years.) All my visitors will be my excuses to do interesting things. Sweet.

More intesting things to say:
-I am reading more this summer than I ever had before
-Right now I am listening to Beck - its quite depressing
-Deepthi criticized my lack of updates to my website, yet I still haven't been able to find her website
-I just discovered PhotoShop on my computer and its extremely entertaining
-My TV has been unplugged since Saturday...yet I am strangely not suffering from withdrawls
-Teresa and I will soon be compiling our list of things to do this summer before we leave the country...it will be sure to include: eating lots of Mexican Food

Creating a Blog

I just decided to make a blog today...this correlates with my decision to make a website yesterday. I guess I am feeling some anxiety about being out of touch with my family and friends for so long while I am abroad. Let's see how it goes...

Last night my mom and I went to Miss Saigon in sd. It was so awesome...I haven't been to play, let alone a world class musical, in forever. I definitely recommend Miss Saigon, and it was written by the creators of Les Mis, my fav musical ever.
This morning I went for a run on the beach and realized that I live in paradise right now. I actually feel pity for those who don't live near the ocean...

Let the countdown begin: 3 months, 12 days til my departure.
